SWAN Advice Network is an independent advice network that serves the whole of Bath and North East Somerset. The advice and information that we give is free and impartial. We offer a wide range of services and will make sure that you are talking to the right person when you contact us. The main SWAN Advice Network office is at Leigh House in Radstock opposite RADCO. Our Keynsham office is the Community Information Centre, Keynsham Town Hall. The services that we offer include:

Welfare Rights

Our welfare rights advisors can give you information about benefit entitlement and help you to fill in benefit forms. We can order dated forms for you so that if your claim is successful the benefit will be backdated. An appointment will be needed to complete Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. Drop-in, write or phone. We offer a home visiting service in North East Somerset (and by referral in the City of Bath.)

Housing Advice and

Bath and District Deposit Bond Scheme.

SWAN Advice Network's housing advisors can provide you with information, advice, advocacy and representation on many housing issues, for example, rent and mortgage arrears, seeking suitable accommodation and housing benefit problems.  SWAN Housing Advice also administers the Bath and District Deposit Bond Scheme, aimed at helping people on a low income, who are homeless, threatened with homelessness or living in unsatisfactory accommodation in Bath and North East Somerset.  A deposit bond is a certificate or paper bond which is issued to the landlord in lieu of the security deposit required by landlords in the private rented sector.

Mental Health

Mental health problems can effect any member of the community at any stage of their lives. This can range from panic attacks and anxiety to schizophrenia. We couple income maximisation with money advice and if you are having problems at work, support is provided on employment issues. Referrals can be made through social workers, community psychiatric nurses, health workers or calling the office personally. Home visits can be made by appointment.

Volunteer Transport

 

SWAN Volunteer Transport Scheme has been operating since 2001.  The scheme provides transport for Social Services in North East Somerset, transport for elderly and disabled people on low income in North East Somerset to access social activities and a free hospital visiting scheme allowing people to visit their friends and relatives at Paulton and St. Martin's Hospital, Bath.

We are also running a pilot scheme to provide transport for appointments at Paulton hospital.
